Academic team

Jun Xia , MSc, BA

Managing Director

Jun is a methodologist and senior systematic reviewer with SRS. She also holds an appointment at The University of Nottingham with the Cochrane Schizophrenia Group. Jun has over ten years of experience conducting systematic reviews, during which time she collaborated extensively with several Cochrane group as authors, peer reviewers or external editor. Jun led over 30 workshops and published 25 Cochrane systematic reviews. She has participated in the WHO stakeholder involvement research for the development of clinical guideline on Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever. Jun is a competent user of the GRADE method and has co-led three workshops on GRADE.

Mohammed T. Ansari , MD, MMedSc, MPhil

Co-director and Chief Scientist

Mohammed is a clinical research methodologist with expertise in Evidence-based Medicine methods and meta-research. As an Adjunct Professor, he is also affiliated with the School of Epidemiology, Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, the University of Ottawa.
Mohammed has 10+ years of experience in meta-research, teaching and meta-research methods development. He is also involved in clinical practice guideline development projects. Mohammed is a member of the GRADE working group, has worked on Cochrane Methods projects (MECIR standards and ROBINS-I tool) and research methods guide for the US Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). Mohammed has previously served as Associate Director for two large Evidence-based Practice Centre contracts as well as Associate Editor for AHRQ’s Evidence-based Practice Center program, peer reviewed for government funding agencies in Canada, US, UK and Germany and participated in various advisory panels. Mohammed holds Master in Clinical Trials Research Methodology and Master of Philosophy (clinical trials) degrees. He previously trained in Internal Medicine and also completed a two year Fellowship program in systematic review methodology.

Hong-Chun Chen 

Business Development Manager

Ms Chen majored in clinical medicine at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and worked as a pediatrician for 5 years. She has over 20 years of experience in health sciences industry. Before joining SRS, she was a Senior Sales Manager at Abbott Healthcare & Research, leading sales and client solutions. She is a creative problem-solver with a wealth of knowledge and experience on market analysis, sales strategy development, operational risk assessment and prevention, budget planning. During her professional career, Ms Chen has led her team achieved outstanding sales performance, fostered important corporate client relationship, and led expansion of small/medium sized enterprises. She joined SRS in 2015, leading a team promoting and delivering EBM related workshops in mainland China.

Sai Zhao , MSc, BSc

Senior Systematic Reviewer

With a background in evidence-based nursing, Sai has over four years systematic review experience. Sai has published 5 Cochrane reviews to date. After completing her Cochrane training, she received a 6-month full-time placement with the Cochrane Schizophrenia Group. She is a registered author with 4 Cochrane groups (schizophrenia, incontinence, dementia and cognitive improvement, and hepato-biliary)

Margueritte Mabry White , M.D

Physician Scientist & Editor

Margueritte is a physician, medical writer and editor. She has edited and aided in the publication of numerous Cochrane Systematic Reviews covering a wide range of topics and is a graduate of the Evidence-Based Clinical Practice Workshops offered at McMaster's University in Ontario, Canada. She had a long career in academic medicine at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and was also involved in research at a Yale University, School of Medicine, Department of Cardiology.
Margueritte received her medical degree in the U.S. from Temple University, School of Medicine, Philadelphia, completed her residency training at Mount Sinai, School of Medicine in New York and her fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine and Cardiovascular Pulmonary Research at the University of Colorado, in Denver, Colorado. She also pursued graduate training in molecular biology at the same institution. Margueritte served on the faculty in the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Internal Medicine at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center where she carried out laboratory-based research on hypoxia and vascular reactivity with grant support from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), USA. She is the author of several scientific publications in top peer-reviewed journals such as the American Journal of Physiology and Endocrine Reviews, has written numerous health-related articles for patients, physicians and educators, published a book and edited over 300 scientific articles that have been submitted to peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Fang Qi , MSc, BSc

Biostatistician & Systematic Reviewer

Fang has Masters degree in epidemiology and health statistics. She has experience of performing survival analysis, multivariate statistical analysis, discriminant analysis, Bayesian network construction, statistical pattern recognition and data mining (PCA, PLS, RF, SVM, NN and so on). Before joining SRS, Fang worked at the Tianjin Institute of Haematology and Blood Disease Hospital, China. She is a competent user of a range of statistical packages, including R, SAS, SPSS and RevMan. With in-house training in systematic review methods and hands-on experience, Fang also performs as a systematic reviewer with SRS.

Expert Consultant

Professor Phil Wiffen

Methodologist & Editor

Phil is the expert consultant at SRS. He is a clinical pharmacist by background specialising in chronic pain medicine.
Phil’s main work has been with the Cochrane Pain, palliative and Supportive Care Group involved with the production of systematic reviews in pain and palliative care. He has authored two books, has published over 200 peer reviewed publications and is Editor in Chief of an international pharmacy journal. In addition he holds the title of visiting Professor for the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmacology at the University of Bath UK.

Richard Kirubakaran, MSc, BSc

Statistician

Richard is a Biostatistician with the South Asian Cochrane Network and Centre and the Prof.BV Moses and ICMR Centre for Advance Research & Training in Evidence-Informed healthcare, (www.cochrane-sacn.org) (www.cmch-vellore.edu) providing statistical support in all projects undertaken by the centre, along with conducting training workshops at the centre on Evidence Based Medicine.

Farhad Shokraneh, MSc, BSc

Information Specialist

Farhad is a medical information specialist at Cochrane Schizophrenia Group, the University of Nottingham. He has developed the search methods of systematic reviews for over 13 years and lectured in research and information mastery workshops for nine years. He is a member of research team in developing social policies, clinical practice guidelines, health technology assessments and systematic reviews. He is also a co-author of the search chapter in the new update of the Cochrane handbook. He has also experience in publication and indexing of medical journals and clinical librarianship. Farhad is collaborating with SRS as an external information specialist since 2013.
